We are northern Virginia’s largest local residential masonry contractor. With many years of experience we have build the finest walkways, patios and drive ways in the area period. Our masonry projects include: flagstone, brick and concrete lead walks, sidewalks, flagstone, brick, and concrete patios. We use a wide variety of natural materials including flagstone, slate, brick, brick pavers, and stamped concrete to design our projects in order to best compliment your home. Sometimes we can design a patio with a combination of flagstone with a brick edge which can give your patio a very clean look. CrescenQt works with dimensional and irregular flagstone for our patio and walk way projects. We also build patios with many types of brick and concrete pavers. Pennsylvania flagstone is our most common used product. Crescent Home Services imports only choice flag stone, which we store in our Sterling Virginia location. We hand select each truck load of flagstone to assure or customers are getting the best quality flagstone available in the Northern Virginia area. Buying in wholesale lets us pass the savings to our customers. We also offer other types of flagstone such as Colorado red, Pennsylvania lilac, Tennessee buff, and New York flagstone. Pennsylvania flagstone comes in patterned cut, or irregular flagstone cut stone. With our full color range of Pennsylvania Flagstone shades and tones combine as a whole to make each of Crescent ’s projects unique. We can retain the real feel that can only come from natural stone patios. The full color range consists of a variety of shades and tones. The predominant colors in this range consist of blues, grays, greens, and browns, lilac, with interesting rusts, lavender and with various iron oxide coloration. The shades and tones combine as a whole to make each project unique, yet retain that rustic feel that can only come from natural stone paving. The predominant colors in Pennsylvania flagstone consist of blues, grays, greens, and browns, interesting rusts, lavender and gold shading which are flashed with various iron oxide coloration. Pennsylvania Flagstone is probably the most-used flagstone in the Northern Virginia area. Be it a flagstone patio or brick patios or walk way they are all built to Crescent ’s specific time tested designs. The first step in how to build a flagstone patio project is to design the grade and shape of the patio. The area must be graded so the water flows away from your property. Our masonry teams are trained to produce a grade of ¼” per foot. This grade makes the patio look fairly level but will move the water away from your home without a problem We then remove all grass and prep the area for our concrete pour. Any down spouts or sump pump out lets are attached to a new drayage system below your patio or walk way. WE never install a gravel base because this will only hold water because of the soil conditions in northern Virginia. When the forms have been approved by the home owner we pour 3500 psi concrete. This concrete pour may be reinforced with fiber, wire mesh or rebar depending on the local soil types. The patio or walkway is then capped with Pennsylvania square cut irrigator flagstone, brick pavers or material of your choice. Some home owners like to add a brick edge to their project. We set our flagstone in a mixture of type 1 or 2 Portland cement and fine masonry sand. If your patio or walk way project is to be capped in brick we would then use type S masonry cement and sand mixture. We also build patio fire pits, outdoor kitchens, built in barbecues, refrigerators, grills, and outdoor chimneys. Outdoor kitchens have been very big this year along with our outdoor chimneys. Lighted thin stone seating walls are used in many of our patio projects. If your outdoor plans include patio work why not add a fire-pit or outdoor chimney. Other masonry projects include concrete, concrete and brick, heated, and concrete paver drive ways we design and build northern Virginia’s best brick and flagstone hard scape’s. We build dimensional cut blue green flagstone, slate, irregular flagstone patios, and brick edged flagstone patios. Crescent ’s expertise in patio and walkway design is well known in the area. Many of our patio and walkway projects start with a concrete base and then are capped with clay paver bricks. Brick have standard specifications established by the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) and Crescent only uses clay pavers that adhere to these standards. Face brick cannot be used for walkway, patio, or drive way projects. ASTM determined that a minimum of 8,000 psi is needed to endure bricks will hold up in climates like we have in Northern Virginia. Most of our clay brick paver projects are built with Pine Hall pavers. Pine Hall pavers are rated at 13,000 psi and come in split pavers or 2 ¼” pathway pavers.
