Coping: The coping of your pool is the pool framing. It covers the perimeter of the pool, it is the area starting from the water line tile that comes up and wraps over onto the top (the bond beam). The coping distinguishes where the pool structure ends and where the pool deck starts. Coping is important because it separates the pool and the deck and allows the deck to move without ever having an effect on the pool.
